How Many Legs Do Spiders Have?

Ms. Michelle came today! First the kids maneuvered an obstacle course. The kids crawled through a crazy maze, then they walked up a ramp and jumped off. Before finishing the course, they picked a bean bag and tossed it through a shape on the board. For finger fun, the kids rotated through stations. We worked with blocks, letters, tongs, a peg board, building tubes and locking/unlocking doors.

Our story today was "The Very Busy Spider." In the story, the farm animals ask the spider to come and play. The spider didn't answer because she was to busy building her web. At the end of the story she caught the pesky fly the rooster was trying to catch! After reading the story, we drew a picture of a spider. The kids helped label the parts...we know a spider has 2 body parts, 8 legs, 8 eyes and uses thread to make a web to catch insects.

For art we made a spider. Our spiders had a little head and a big body. We glued 8 legs to the body...4 legs for each side of the spider. The final step was added lots of eyes to the spider's head to help us remember that spiders have more than 4 eyes. Tomorrow we will learn about bats!
