Ms. Danielle helped us learn about soccer today. We kicked, trapped the ball, and even practiced being the goalie! Everyone had their own soccer ball....but I'm quite certain that we didn't all end up with the same ball we started with!!
Miss Stacey came for music today. Several friends did a great job of remembering last week's music word - decrescendo. We practiced this one again for hello. Next, we learned the ending of Autumn Winds, our song for October, and the motions that go with it. Then we used different colored scarves to be our 'butterfly wings' in a song that had us pay close attention and follow directions as we waited to take a turn. After that we got back out the Boomwhackers, which we learned about last week, and worked on keeping a steady beat with the B-B-B-Bugs song one more time.
Today's book was A Pet For Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold. In this story Buzz tries to help Fly Guy find just the right pet. It seems that everyone else at the park has a pet, so Fly Guy wants one, too. A dog wasn't right....he licked Fly Guy. A frog wasn't right....he chased Fly Guy. A cricket was too jumpy. Just when they both started to get a little down, Buzz realized that he was the absolute best pet for Fly Guy!
Mr. Jon was on a trip today, so we had Ms. Paige and Ms. Hayley join us for MyGym. They started with an obstacle course. First was a forward roll, then balancing on the beam, then three jumps on the trampoline. After everyone had a turn, we played Red Light, Green Light. The kids had to listen to find out how they would be moving across the room. Jumping, crawling, and skipping were all favorites. The pretend objects today were hockey pucks....and we used them to make pizza. The last thing we did was another listening game where the teachers gave directions about where to run.....and without touching our friends....the kids had to make their way there. The practice skill of the week is Tree. This skill works on balance and focus. The kiddos have to stand with one foot up and resting on the other foot....raise their hands into the air with the palms together to make a "leaf". To make it more challenging.....sway your arms back and forth while holding the standing position.
