Today we learned that rabbits live in the forest! It goes right along with our theme.....and the fact that Easter is right around the corner certainly is helpful too! Our letter during morning circle was R. We talked about words that started with the /r/ sound.
Our story today was Little White Rabbit by Kevin Henkes. Little Rabbit explores the forest in the story. We learned that rabbits like to eat grass, clover, and carrots. We also learned that rabbits live in burrows.
After reading the story, we talked about rabbit characteristics. Rabbits have big, long ears, a soft nose and a fluffy tail. The characteristics allowed us to use some really good descriptive words when comparing to the other animals we have been talking about!
For art, the kids made rabbit headbands. First, they glued two long bunny ears onto the band. Then we added a soft, fuzzy nose. The last step was adding eyes. The kids hopped all the way to the bathroom to check out their bunny headbands in the mirror! We ended the day singing songs about bunnies and rabbits.
