Today we started the day introducing the kiddos to our Countdown Chain. There is a link for each day left in the school year. At the beginning of the day, there were only 15 links on the chain. 15 days until SUMMER VACATION!! Each day we will take one link off.....until the very last day of school! There was definitely excitement about the new chain!
Ms. Michelle came today for OT. We started the day with an obstacle course. First, the kiddos had to make their way through the long tunnel. Then, they used the big scissors to grab a weighted animal. After crossing the bubbles, they had to release their animal in the large circle. While they were waiting their turn, the other kiddos played with magnetic building blocks. Finger fun was making a tall tower using the straw pieces we cut last week. Then Ms. Michelle added in some round noodles to put on the tower. For an extra challenge, the kids made patterns using the straws and the noodles.
Today's book was Summer Legs by Anita Hakkinen. This story is a rhyming book about all the fun things that our legs do in the summer. Whether they are hanging from a tree, or kicking in a pool, or sliding into home plate playing baseball, our dirty, sunburned, scraped, and sandy legs are a sure way to tell that summer has arrived!
Art today was super duper messy! So....if you notice some discoloration on the bottoms of their feet tonight during bath time....just know that it was leftover from art! The first thing to do was take off everyone's socks and shoes. You should have seen the delight that this brought to the classroom! Then after the kiddos chose a color paint, we painted the bottom's of both feet. We used these feet prints, along with some addition parts, to make our Flip Flop art.
