Our story today was "I Like Myself" by Karen Beaumont. The little girl liked herself when she was silly, quiet, clean, dirty, fast and slow. She didn't care what others thoughts, she was appreciating all the wonderful things about herself. After reading the book, we described all the different parts of our body. The kids took turns raising their hands to help me label the different body parts on the board. Then we sang songs to help us practice finding our body parts.
After the book, for our language time, we described all the different parts of our bodies. The children took turns raising their hands to help label the body chart on the board. They came up with some pretty specific body parts for preschool!!
For art we made a special mirror. First the kids glued the mirror onto a blue piece of paper. Next, they used crayon to color the mirror. Then, they found their picture to glue onto the middle of the mirror. The last step was to complete the sentence " I'm ___." The kids got to choose a descriptor for themselves: we had lots of choices.... smart, fast, a good listener, a helper, friendly and happy.
After lunch we had just enough time for music! The kids loved singing head, shoulders, knees and toes. We packed up and it was time to go home. We had another great day of school!
